Hotel Flora-Venice or Hotel Ala or Hotel Violino

My travel agent suggested these three hotels-what's the best bang for the buck?

Of the three you list, I only have experience at the Flora. And, although others like/love it, we had an experience I would not want to repeat. If you do a search of the three hotel names, you'll find many comments on the Flora and the Ala.

Jean- what did you not like about the flora? I keep hearing good things about the Ala and mixed revieves about the flora. there doesn't seem to be much about Hotel Violino D'oro-maybe too many violions!

We had a very good experience at Hotel Flora, but you need to make sure to request a large room. The location is great, the garden very nice, and the owners were very friendly and helpful to us.

Don't know about the others you mention.

My experience at the Flora a few years ago was also very positive. My single room was very small, but for just me it was fine. Outstanding location, all services, pretty courtyard, elevator, continental breakfast.

Thanks for the reply. we should be hearing from our travel agent today. With all the reviews Im torn between the two. maybe the price will reflect on which hotel i pick. Thanks again!

My husband and I, and our adult daughter, stayed at the Ala three years ago and loved it. To save money we picked one of the cheaper rooms, but it overlooked a side canal and we had gondolas passing outside our window. The location couldn't be better, and the staff was very helpful (making dinner reservations for us, for example). There's an outdoor cafe next door where my husband liked to enjoy a pre-dinner drink.

We stayed at hotel Ala in 2002 and loved it. The location is great and there are tons of dining options nearby. We had one of their larger rooms that overlooking the side canal.
Their breakfast was OK.

We stayed at the Flora once and will never return. We like the quaintness of 2 and 3 star hotels, but the room we had in the Flora was a dump and tiny. I have never had a problem with the reception clerks except at the Flora.
