NYC to Saratoga Springs
I have a conference in Saratoga Springs in the summer. I thought I would go to NYC the weekend before.
Any New Yorkers have information on the easiet method to get to Saratoga - Is there a direct train route - I dont want to rent a car.... I dont think......
any suggestions appreciated.

If you go to www.amtrak.com, you will see there are two trains a day that take about 3:30+ from NY Penn to Saratoga Springs.

Yes, amtrak works just fine - we've taken it from Albany to go in to NYC. It's a nice ride along the Hudson River.
But be sure to save some time to explore Saratoga (unless you've been a million times already ) - it's a great little city!

I agree, be sure to spend some free time right there in Saratoga! Go to a performance at SPAC, take in the baths, and go to the track (if you are there in August). We lived there for a couple years and absolutely loved it, and summer is gorgeous there!

Amtrak is your best bet. I agree with the others. Spend time in Saratoga as well. You might also consider seeing Albany and the Adirondack mountains. Albany is a great Capital City and the Adirondacks are just gorgeous ... Lake George, Lake Placid, etc.
