North Oregon Coast looking for lodging $175 to $200

It's terrible to have to ask for advice on this since I'm a fifth generation Oregonian. However, while I've been out of the state for 25 years, the Oregon coast has CHANGED.

I'm planning 3 nights at the end of September and would like to be in the area of Cannon, Manzanita, Oceanside, etc. I looked up the SurfSand and Ocean Lodge--lovely, but beyond my budget for this particular trip. I'll pay $400 a night to stay in Paris, but I can remember when $10 got you a decent room right on the beach in Oregon. How times have changed!

I did find a few places that looked plausible, but we may have our adult child along, which necessitates an extra bed. We have an outdoor hot tub at home, so a room with a big jacuzzi sitting right there by the bed has no appeal for us.

Any suggestions here that I've overlooked in my searches?

We always stay at the Surfsand, but yes, it has risen in price quite a bit over the years. I have not stayed at the Cannon Beach Hotel, but a fellow Oregonian poster Beachbum has and that might work for you. Have you called the hotels directly to ask if they would have any specials during that time? It is still high season here, as you know, but perhaps with the economy they might reduce the rates a bit. Worth a shot anyway

A couple other places that people seem to like at Schooners Cove and the Hallmark.

There are the new Rivertide Suites in Seaside that would be nice for your family. It is just about a block to the ocean from this property, all rooms are spacious suites with Flat Screen TV's, small kitchens and there is an indoor pool here. Have fun at the coast! ***kim***

Hello - We have stayed at the Inn at Cannon Beach before and really enjoyed it. Owned by the folks who manage the Ocean Lodge - a top notch spot. Service is great - rooms are spacious - across the street from beach but easy to walk to. Rate includes breakfast.

Best of luck and enjoy your stay!

Thanks. I knew you'd come through with suggestions I hadn't seen. Inn at Cannon Beach looks neat, maybe cheaper as not right on the sand.

Am also looking at Coast Cabins at Manzanita. Will have to see if DH wants to be 6 blocks back from the beach.

This research is taking awhile as some places will only quote a price if you put in a hypothetical reservation.

Also discovered that Inn at Cannon Beach owns something called Van Buren Lighthouse Inn which looks kind of neat. Anyone stayed there?

Anyone stayed in Manzanita? I don't mind driving the 13 miles to walk around Cannon.
