Nails Filled In Kauai or BI

Does anyone know a place in Kauai where I can get my acrylic nails filled? Any idea of prices?

If not in Kauai, how about in Hilo on the Big Island, where I'll be the following week?

Good Grief - what a major problem??? You are going to Hawaii - a most beautiful, perfect place anywhere. How superficial!!!

You want what done to your nails?
Filled? Filled with what? Hot lead?
How about a good gelatinous stabilizer?
Your nails are not the only fillable items available to us.

I asked my girl friend how she filled her nails, and she said she never had.
She is not sure what she would use.

And she is in the fashion know; she has her hair styled by Mother Nature in London.

Then there's the story about when my wife, a 5th grade teacher, was taken to task by a student's mother for giving weekly spelling tests. The mom said, "Who needs spelling nowadays when everything is on the computer and you can use spell-checker."

Is there any way you can get them filled prior to leaving? Everything seems to cost more in Hawaii.

I'm sure any of the major hotels would have a salon or could suggest a place to go. If all else fails, if you see someone with great nails, ask them where they got them done.

(Sorry I couldn't be more help! I have short stubby nails!!)

Thanks for the replies...but they sounded like they were coming from Rusty. <g>

I was hoping for an answer from fellow women who have acrylic nails. They have to be filled every 2 weeks as your natural nail grows. My total trip is 3.5 weeks and therefore I cannot go the whole trip without a fill.

Thanks anyway.

I don't know of specific places, but I had this problem on my honeymoon, as well. I had acrylics put on for my wedding and they needed a fill by the time I got to Maui. I just looked around in the phone book. Some of the resorts with salons might do it, too, so I would just wait until I get there. I ended up going to some random little nail shop in Kihei, and I'm sure there will be something similar.

That said, be forewarned-- your nails may react with the salt water. My nails reacted very badly, which is why I needed a fill. They turned completely sticky, which is bizarre. The woman who fixed them knew about the problem and what to use so it did not happen again. I had no idea such things occurred.

Back to, "If your don't have anything nice to say," now there's a lesson most 5th graders already know, and could use to teach a few of us adults.

BettylnToronto I had the same perplexing question. I had to ask myself, do I really want to spend an hour in paradise getting my nails done? Then worrying about not breaking, chiping, the effect of prolonged exposure to water, and the fact the sun can also discolor them. So I took them off and will do without my pretty hands until after vacation.
Just a suggestion from a fellow "superficial" chick.

Betty, I wouldn't worry about it! I'm sure there are tons of *nail-fillers* in Hawaii, all just waiting for your business....... If it's important to you that your nails look great, hey, who am I to criticize? We all have our priorities, however quirky someone else might find them!;-)

In case you don't already know, sun and sunscreen can affect the look and color of a french manicure. Might be the right time to do white tips instead of plain ones if you like that look. The color will turn brownish and look really bad.

I, too am 'superficial" and have had my nails filled many times while on vacation. See website below--you should have a lot of options!

Having acrylic or fiberglass nails makes us superficial? Wow, bummer. I bite my nails so unless I want to frighten the masses with their scary bitten appearance I must have tips applied. I don't feel superficial but now I know.

Thanks to all the ladies who finally gave me good advice. I too am like Suzie, a very bad nail biter. Have done it for over 40 years and was so glad I finally started to get acrylic nails and didn't have to hide my hands anymore.

That said, I can't go without them so I'll look for a place to do the fill. I know I'd rather spend a hour on the beach, but hey, that's the price I have to pay. I could do it in Hong Kong when I'm there first, but the last time they wanted $100 Cdn to do a fill. It seems it's not popular there. Only a North American thing.

Okay. So I thought I'd have better luck in Hawaii with my fellow superficial North Americans. <g>

Thanks guys, I'll just look in the phone book when I get to Kaua'i.

Was just re-reading everyone's posts and noticed luv2go's link to a nail salon website. I just checked it out and it's great! Thanks.

Wow, Lukesaunt, I've heard of swimsuit dissolving in pools, now you taught me the same may happen to nails. This website is very entertaining, to say the least!

Someone mention my name? Where in Hawaii is that pool that makes swimsuits dissolve ?

$100 Canadian to have your nails filled ain't bad. That's only about $1.98 US !!

I got nailed in a saloon one time.

I got out better than Wild Bill Hickcock, though.
