We're planning a Christmas trip to Maui with our teenagers. I am highly considering staying at the Hyatt because I have heard that it's an awesome resort with lots to do. However, I'm a bit concerned that it might be "off the beaten track" for our teenagers. Our teens like to venture out on their own a little bit. Will they be happy there? Are there places (like shops and restaurants) they can walk to? I'm afraid we'll have to get in the car and drive everywhere... Your opinions and advice are welcomed and appreciated.

Message: Oh my goodness, you will be right in the middle of the action on Kaanapali Beach! They can walk to everything....... And they can hop on a shuttle to go up to Lahaina, 5 minutes up the road, which they will LOVE. Fear not, proceed with reservations!

Thanks, Bonnie. I feel much better about the Hyatt decision now. I had been hearing that the Sheraton was a much better location and that the Hyatt was way at the other end where nothing was going on. Thanks again.

Hettie, I should have said that Lahaina is South, not North, and it's actually about 3 miles. Granted, the Hyatt is the southernmost of the Kaanapali hotels..... but I still consider it *near all the action.* The Sheraton does have the *premier* beach area....... but all three miles of the Kaanapali Beach stretch are pretty gorgeous, I think. And there's shuttles that run the whole area plus Lahaina, so I don't think you'll be disappointed. But you might want to do more research, if you are concerned. I have friends who will stay nowhere except the Hyatt!

Hettie, suggestion here..... Go to *kaanapaliresort.com*.... Click on accomodations, and you will see where your hotel is on the beach, and you can click on the hotels, etc., to get all kinds of info. I re-iterate, even thought it's the Southernmost property, it still feels very much in the thick of things to me..... there is SO MUCH to do in that resort! Good luck.....
