Maui - Hyatt or The Westin
If any of youhad to choose between the two, which would it be and why? We love the beach, so a better beach area would be good. We are going on our honeymoon. Staying 6 nights and want to stay in 1 place. All around which one would be better?
Thanks!

For a honeymoon the Hyatt is the better choice. It's a beautiful hotel. It is the last hotel along the beachwalk of hotels that begin at black rock with the Sheraton. You can use any beach area you like if you find that the beach in front of the hyatt is not to your liking. Most hotels have little or no services on the beach other than day activity booths along the beachwalk. The biggest, widest beach is at the Sheraton and gets narrower as it goes towards the Hyatt. The size of the beach also depends on the time of year as the tide changes affect the shoreline.

We just returned from Waikiki & Maui and while on Maui we stayed at the Hyatt. I was disappointed with the hotel. I thought the service at the hotel was just average. The pool was always packed and it was difficult to find a chair. However, most disappointing was the beach at the Hyatt. It's a very narrow strip of sand full of sharp rocks, coral, and the water was very murky!!! You had to walk down to the Sheraton to find the nice beach and clear water. I think the Westin has a much better beach than the Hyatt, but the best along that strip would be the Sheraton. We walked around the grounds at the Sheraton and all four of us decided that when we come to Maui again, we will most definitely stay at the Sheraton!! If you love the beach, you will be happier at the Westin or Sheraton. Good luck!

We have been to Maui three times in the last two years and are going again in March. We have stayed in Kapalua at the Ritz--a wonderful hotel, but a windy and somewhat rainy side of the island. We prefer Wailea over Kaanapali which is where the Hyatt is located. The Hyatt is very nice...the pool area in front of the hotel and in front of the beach is congested in my opinion. If this is your honeymoon, I suggest that you look at the Fairmont Kei Lani of the Grand Wailea. Both are incredible...the other large nice hotels in Wailea are the Marriott and the Renaissance, but both have begun renovations. Wailea is a very sunny side of the island...with an incredible walkway connecting the resorts for a couple of miles. The beaches are spectacular...but then the entire island is beautiful.
