During a May visit to Seattle, I noticed a cruise ship coming in and docked near downtown Seattle. In addition, I could see ferrys coming in and out. Is this where most cruise ships dock?

I will be cruising out of Seattle in June and trying to decide on a hotel. My preference is to stay downtown. If I am downtown, will I be close to the pier or have to pay $30 for a taxi?

There are two areas where cruise ships dock. One is in the downtown area and one is just south of downtown. Both are close and you shouldn't have to pay $30 for a cab.

$30 gets you a taxi downtown all the way to the airport, judging by that, neither of the cruise ship docks could be that much.

If you are departing from Pier 66 then either the Marriott or the Edgewater are easily walkable (assuming you have rolling luggage.)

Taxis from any of the major downtown hotels to the terminal should be under $15.

Cab from the airport to either of the cruise terminals or to downtown hotels will run around $30, give or take.

A cab to any downtown hotel from Pier 66 should be well under TEN dollars unless you're stuck in traffic. In which case walk. Oh, wait, a cruise ship, you'll have 10,000 pounds of luggage.

News to me, but if so a good deal. Not mentioned on the Port's website. It would be like the flat $45 from JFK to Manhattan (although I've never had the Manhattan-JFK return exceed that on the meter.)

$25 airport to downtown is posted standard fare inside Yellow Cabs. never tried it myself since I live outside downtown proper.

Before booking your accommodations, remember to figure in the 'hill factor'. Four blocks from Pier 66 is a much more difficult walk when trying to control your luggage on a steep downhill trek, plus I seem to remember that not all of the streets are through streets down to the dock area. You will pay a premium price for accommodations such as the Edgewater or by the Market area, although wheeling your luggage along Alaskan Way will be a breeze. It might be smarter to book a room in a business hotel and pay the cab fare to get your luggage to the cruise terminal.
