Alaska cruise leaving from Seattle
Will be leaving on Celebrity for Alaska on 6-24-11. Coming in a day early and looking for a hotel less then $200. for one night in downtown - any suggestions? . Is a taxi the best way to get from the airport to downtown hotel and then to cruise terminal? Does anyone know approxiamte cost for taxi to downtown and then to terminal? Finally, our plane does not leave Seattle until 10:30 PM for return to Florida, any suggestions on how to kill 10 hours?

I believe Clebrity cruises depart from Pier 90. Taxiwiz.com calculates taxi fare from downtown at $12, but that sounds a little low to me. I'd plan for at least $15 with tip.
For a well-located hotel, check out the Mayflower, Andra, and Warwick.

celebrity leaves from pier 66 downtown so a taxi shouldn't cost more than $10 from a downtown hotel. a taxi from the airport to downtown will run about $45 before tip.
i also recommend the mayflower and the andra, although the latter may be over your limit of $200, depending on how busy they are anticipated to be when you're here.
for the day following the cruise, i'd suggest that you talk to the bellman at the hotel you stay at before the cruise, and make arrangements for them to hold your luggage for you that day--if you ask nicely and tip well, it shouldn't be a problem ;-). then you can go off sightseeing until it's time to head to the airport. with just one day here beforehand, you definitely won't have covered everything there is to see and do here so you'll have plenty of options.

I agree with the suggestions already made. SeaTac to downtown hotel by taxi ~45. Taxi hotel to pier ~$12.
Mayflower Park and the Warwick are my favorites and in that price range. both have good restaurants on site (Andaluca's/Olivers and Brasserie Margaux respectively).
Figure out how to get your luggage pier to the airport, then you could have a day of sight-seeing in downtown Seattle at the end of your trip.

Thanks so much for the quick response and great options. I was stationed at Ft. Lewis 35 years ago and always loved the site of Mt.Rainier, (wonder if any of the "old haunts" are still around).
