Hotel or b&b pick for one night in Taos

I think I may have narrowed down Santa Fe stays to La Fonda or Inn on the Alamedas. However, I'm planning one night in Taos. Any recommendations in the $135-225/night range. I like the idea of the little in-room fireplaces. Will they use them after May 1?

Historic Taos Inn is a great location and has very comfortable rooms. Some have recently been renovated.

Do you want to be in town or a bit out?

http://www.adobepines.com/ is a wonderful place but outside of town.

Here's an old thread:

If you want a less expensive, fancy place [and it has fireplaces] try El Pueblo Inn on the north end of town. Be sure to ask for a non-pet room though.

And yes, May nights are still cool enough for a fire.

We absolutely loved Casa de las Chimneas when we went to Taos. Close enough to walk to downtown and a beautiful setting.

Thanks. Lots of suggestions here. I saw individual room pictures at the Historic.

Also, see a Casa Bienvenidas--anyone been there?

I second Casa de las Chimneas. We stayed there for a few nights a couple of years ago and it was lovely.
In the evening they put out a spread of snacks that can double as a light supper. When there I had the best cream of chicken rice soup that I ever had in my life.
