good I-95 motel in southern Georgia?
We'll be heading back north and will be near Florida/Georgia border for our first night. I haven't found anything pleasant in that area in the past. Wondering whether there might be a new motel in that area-- something very comfortable and quiet and with decent restaurant walking distance. Don't want to go more than mile or so off highway. (Savannah way too far north for us to get to.)
Many thanks.

Kingsland, GA is right there at the border and has some options. I haven't been back in ages, so can't comment on what the hotels are like but you might check Tripadvisor for the options and reviews. Hotels and restaurants are all right there at the exit, so easy access.

I really can't imagine that this is a problem unless you are looking for something ultra-luxurious -- and clearly you aren't or you wouldn't be asking about a motel. If you look around the I-95 exits to Brunswick you can certainly find something. And farther south in northern Florida, look around the exit to Fernandina Beach.
You'll be driving, yet you want a restaurant within walking distance. I can't understand this requirement, either. Are you sure you know what you want?

I appreciate the continued input, though not, of course, from people like Wayne. Not sure why I'm even bothering to respond to his obnoxious reply, but yes, we are driving and will have driven 8 hours or so by the time we get to our night stop. We are oldsters, do not especially like to drive at night anyway, but mainly the last thing we want to do after riding in the car all day is get back in and drive to dinner somewhere. We appreciate being able to check in, take a shower, and take a little stroll to a pleasant dinner. And no, we do not need something ultra-luxurious for our road trip, but very definitely do desire as quiet accommodations as possible. Many motels have ultra-thin walls and very noisy heating-a.c. systems; others, blessedly, have higher quality, which is what we hope to find.
SAnParis2: We were once attracted to the idea of going off road and staying at that Hampton Inn, but I read several reports that spoke of railroad noise. Wouldn't bother some people, but would us. I appreciate the thought though (and lack of nastiness).
We may splurge and stay at Amelia Plantation Inn, where there's a good special now. Would prefer, though, to find something comfortable and quiet just off 95.

The train noise that was spoken of occurs only doing daylight hours as I recall. There is a small engine that runs back & forth shunting cars to a port area. Not a 'through' train than could run all hours of the night. Many great little B & B's in Old town as well, most on 7th St. which would be well away from the train noise (if there is any).

Savannah is only an extra 100 miles (which I know can be a lot, after a long drive) in case you want to keep going. There are some decent, new, clean places not far from the airport. They aren't walking distance to restaurants though.
