Ahhhh! If only I could get there and have some. Have an extra for me my friend. Watch out for those four legged connoiseurs who love the Punsch as well. Especially those with aristocratic titles.
Let me know which area has the best this year.

Hello Operaman!

Testing has begun! The best thus far at Michaelerplatz!

Of course the four legged one only is concerned about alcohol content. I now get him a" Turbo Punsch" -extra alcohol.
He needs it as the weather turns cold and very windy.

Our future test results will be posted!

I hope that your rehearsals for Strauss go well!

Servus Molker,

welcome home! I am glad to hear you are back again from Oman. I am delighted that you remember our web conversation about having a Punsch before you left.

Yes, I would like to join the PTT (Punsch Test Team) - when, where? I will be on a business trip this week, back on Friday. What do you suggest?

Guten Abend Viennese!!
Our schedules make problems for the PTT as I leave for Turkey next Sunday( away probably 5 days.
Perhaps Next Saturday Afternoon 15:00 at Michaelerplatz.? If not I am open to suggestions after December 4.
Easily recognized,I am the tall\big man with a thristy Deutscher Schaeferhund named Graf.( Operamans reference in above post)
While Graf prefers white wine, he has become a true expert in any type of alcoholic drink and deserves his status as a tester. Be careful as you approach us, as he is very concerned when anyone comes near his drinking cup.

Guten Abend, Molker! Okay, let's make it next Saturday (November 27). I will have no problem recognising you and Graf. I am female, with dark curly hair. Parole "Fodors Punsch Testing Team"!

I wish you a nice Sunday evening and successful days in Turkey (will be in Istanbul next May). I am looking forward to meeting you and Graf!

Tag Molker!
I am glad the testing is going well! Turbo Punsch is sehr gut, I'm sure the aristocrat enjoys his cup with much pleasure. You and viennese--the tasting team--must post your notes on the best places. The Strauss is coming along sehr gut. Fledermaus will have the audience waltzing on Neue Jahr in Oregon. I will tip a glass at midnight to you all over there, wishing I were there with you.

The door is always open to you!
WE still have a few bottles of white wine remaining after your last visit.
I am told it helps the voice and health.
We reserve a bottle of Slivovitz for Frosch!

I also post on December 23-27 thread also.

The Punsch Test Team of Viennese( Gnädige Frau) and Molker( non Küss die Hand guy) tried the punsch at Michaelerplatz today. It deserved a second cup and was enjoyed by all.
An unexpected and most enjoyable afternoon with nice people keeps away the cold and wind.
Yes, she is very knowledgeable!

Yes indeed, it was a very enjoyable afternoon, mainly due to the warm and friendly welcome I received, partly due to the excellent Punsch! Even the four legged test participant became milder after a few sips...

Far from being a Gnädige Frau, I was welcomed with the finest old-world charm. It felt as if we had been friends for a long time.

If all transatlantic relationships would work in such harmony! Thank you, Molker for being such a nice person, not only in your cyberspace posts but also in real life!

Tried the pünsch at the Am Hof Christkindlmarkt- the kiosk near the corner across from the police station.
All agreed - it is not good- tastes like sugar and water.

Sorry to hear that my friend; especially when it is so close to home. I am sure your four footed aristocrat will aid you in finding a punsch of a higher quality. Please keep those of us who have to imbibe the imported--and of considerable lesser quality--German version, informed of the places that really have the famous quality in schönes Wien. I envy you going to see Herzog von Chicago...enjoy!

Was in Cafe Weimar for their good soup. Surprised to see that they make their own Orange Punsch. Of course I had to try it. Very good result - would recommend it!

molker;
Frohe Weihnachten!
We still await your report on the best location for Punsch. Has the aristocrat finished all his tasting or will the quest for the best take him into the Neue Jahr?
Keep us thirsty Oregonians posted.
All the best to you for the holidays in beautiful Wien.

Message Operaman:Very hard to post a reply after so much punsch!

Tried several places at Schönbrunn Christkindlmarkt. The price was high - 3.20 euros plus- the quality did not match price.
As the 4 legged tester is not permitted there we did not have the super expert opinion, but we 2 legged types agree this stuff was bad. Even the color matched the taste!

Stephens Dom Punsch- tasted like kinder punsch- the alcohol seemed missing.

Graben- Kiwanis 2nd best after Michaelerplatz. Definite "In Spot"late in the day!

Still the best Michaelerplatz.

The same charity has a stand on the west side of Freyung- same punsch still the best.
Freyung east side- smelled great( perhaps it was just cold) taste did not match no tea or orange test - just sweet!

We still get ready for the big festivities. Tree is up and decorated!

Graf becomes excited to open his presents.
More wine up from the Keller- just in case guests from Oregon or elsewhere drop in!
Snow is in the west of Austria- We in Vienna have mild temperatures and some wind. The same expected for the next several days.

Merry Christmas - Frohe Weihnachten!

from your friends in Wien!
