Trouble posting my trip report...
I have tried several times to post my trip report since I returned from England. When I hit submit it says, "bad request...contact administrator".
Anyone had any trouble with this?

Have you seen this thread? It might explain some things and help you proceed. Basically, what you need to do is cut and paste from a word document until "preview" shows a problem, then tweak, try again, tweak again, etc. Painful! But it works...

Yes - look in the Fodor's Help section. There's a long thread from last year detailing posting problems that have never been fixed. Let's hope once the new Fodor's owners officially take over that they will finally fix the known posting issues.
Here are a few quick tips:
- if you have any links (website URLS) in your trip report, remove the "http://" and "https://" from the front. Sometimes these cause posting to fail. URLs themselves without the http:// in front should be OK.
- if you composed the report ahead of time in MS Word, convert it to (or make a copy in) plain text format, without any formatting. One way to do this: open a plain text editor on your computer, copy all the text from Word, and paste it into the text editor (In Windows, open Notepad as the text editor). Then copy the text (which should now have all formatting removed) from the plain text editor and paste that into the Fodor's posting window and try again.
(You can also try saving a copy of your Word trip report in plain text format, if you know how to do that.)
If neither of those helps, you might have some random keyword in your text that is causing a posting issue. Unfortunately, these can be hard to identify without a lot of trial-and-error. Feel free to email me a copy of your trip report if you like (click on my name to contact me via one of my websites) - I am pretty good at digging out the posting issues fairly quickly.

Dukey: >>Why did THIS post of yours not get rejected?<<
Read the thread Andrew linked . . . This has absolutely nothing at all to do w/ who is posting nor the 'content'. It has to do w/ some specific/unknown word/word combo or some other 'key' buried somewhere in the post.
One entry in one of my TR's took about 4 hours of hit/miss reformatting and editing before it 'took'
louistraveler5: Mainly Andrew but also kja and a couple of others have been terrific detectives. If you can e-mail Andrew your text he may figure it out. Otherwise you only option really is to break it up into shorter entries and when one doesn't post you will know the offending bit is in that one.
It will be very frustrating . . .

Thanks everyone! I was going to email my report to Andrew but I tried changing the text first. It seemed to work at first...letting me post. It left my first paragraph out; I posted that separate now I can't get it to work again. I press the submit button and nothing.

As soon as you get no response . . . you know there is a problem in that portion and it will NEVER post. Clicking over and over won't change anything. (You can click 'preview first and the same thing applies -- if it doesn't preview it won't post)
You need to keep breaking it up into bits - when a segment won't take -- That part needs to be revised -- by trial and error changing the text til the offending word/words are eliminated.
A total PITA!

I have a problem with posting a quite innocuous reply to a trip report - and though I'm here quite often [not that bloody frodos again as my DH would have it] I had never heard about this "combination of words" glitch.
I'll go back and see if i can make a small amendment to get it to post.

annhig: If you have a LOT of time (and a cuppa or pint) read through this thread http://www.fodors.com/community/foru...rope-forum.cfm

This problem has been hit/miss for months - it bit me big time on my 'Benedict Cumberbatch' TR. took me hours to get one section posted.
