Travel to Capri in November??
We have a day off a cruise, docking in Sorrento...would love to return to Capri with my husband for the day. Not sure if this is time well spent due to it being off-season, will restaurants or shops be open?? Is a boat trip to the blue grotto a possibility?
Please, respond soon as we have limited options the longer we wait!

randipellmar, I asked because IMO rain is more than a possibility, and if you're considering purchasing a shore excursion, it might be money not well spent. Under some weather conditions, the ferries are cancelled (but I suppose you might get your excursion money back in that case?). In any event, you'll find a much reduced schedule of ferry service in November which might give you only a couple of hours on the island. If you go there on your own, you should investigate the winter timetables.
"Will restaurants and shops be open?" Some (most?) will be closed, and some will be open. There are year-round residents on the island, so they don't just turn off the lights and put up the 'closed' sign.
"Is a boat trip to the Blue Grotto a possibility?" You'll likely find few boats waiting. If it's not a bright and sunny day, there would be nothing to see in the grotto. If the water is choppy, the boats can't enter the grotto opening.

It's not very likely you would get into the Blue Grotto - since it is accessible only when the sea is perfectly flat - unless you want to swim in underwater. and if yuo get in and the sun isn;t shining there's not a lot to see. (And getting in means lying down - 4 people - in a rowboat - that you either transfer to from a larger launch of climb down a stairway cut into the side of a cliff to enter the row boat.)
If I had a day off a boat in sorrento I would head for Pompeii - which can be seen in any weather and no matter how rough the ses may be.
I love Capri - but wouldn't want to do it in chilly rain. You may get sun and want to tour the town - and many places will be open. But a beach resort in winter isn't a lot of fun.

Ok, changed our plans.
A day from Sorrento to Campagnia.
Seeing Mt Vesuvius, restored Villas after the volcanic eruption and a tour and meal at a vineyard.
Thank you for your responses.

OK, but I'd have gone to Naples. Fairly weatherproof, with great museums and churches.
Campania is a very large region. The ride up Vesuvio in a bus, which I've done, is a drag and would be awful in the rain, unless it's a "look, there's Mt. Vesuvius" kind of thing. What restored Villas are these? But it sounds like you've decided anyway.
If not, consider Naples.
