Transportation from CDG to apartment in the Marais
We will be traveling as a party of four - three adults and a 3-year old. We are arriving at CDG and are scheduled to arrive at 6:50 a.m. We are staying in the Marais (rue du Roi de Sicile) and can leave our bags there that morning before the official check-in.
While we are in Paris, we'll be traveling by foot and metro, I imagine. However, I am not sure the best way to get from CDG to the apartment with all our luggage (and to return from the apartment to CDG for our return trip). Will we need to bring a carseat for those two ventures? Is there a shuttle that would be best?
Thanks for your input, Fodorites!

For a taxi from CDG (the most convenient mode of transport), plan on 50-60 euros. Last week 4 of us took a taxi from CDG to the Marais at noon. The fare, including baggage, 4th person, tip, etc.) was 60 euros. Perhaps a 7 a.m. arrival would mean the traffic is lighter--but I wouldn't count on it.
The return trip to CDG at 7 a.m. was 50 euros; the return trip at 8 a.m. was 60 euros (both included the 9 euros already on the meter because we reserved a taxi the day ahead).
Expensive, but we considered it part of the cost of travel and would do it again. Moving about with louggage is just so odious, even though we travel light.
For our week in Paris we used the metro (used a total of 6 carnets of 10 tickets among the four of us) and walked, as you plan to do. The occasional taxi (e.g., at night from Trocadero to the Marais) was about 15 euros.
Hope this helps for your planing. Have a great trip!

Because in the US, you may not take a child in an automobile without a car seat. This includes taxis in many large cities.
I believe she is asking whether this same requirement exists in Paris.
We are a litigious society.

Not metro with the luggage and a child, since to get there would require changing lines just as the rush hour is getting into full swing.
For getting around during your trip, don't overlook the buses:

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the reason I was asking about the car seat is that in, say, New York or Los Angeles, you wouldn't be able to take a small child in a car without having a carseat, so I was asking whether I would need to bring a carseat for those two rides. It seems like the private car service is going to be our best bet. Shuttle Inter is a much better deal than Paris Shuttle.
Thanks also for the reminder about buses for getting around while we are already in Paris.

I think in France you would be required to have a car seat also for a child that size (I've read the laws, but don't recall exactly, it is based on weight but would include a 3 yr old). YOu need a car seat maybe if they are 15 kg or less, and if more, you need a booster seat. I think taxis are exempt from that, though, but you would in your own car. Also, a child under 10 is not allowed to be in the front seat.
I'm not sure what the law is about taxis, but they don't seem to provide them from what I've heard.
