Self-catering in Prum/Bitburg Germany area?

My siblings and I are planning to visit the Battle of the Bulge/Western Germany area next year in May. We know we want to visit Cochem and Clervaux, and stay in a house or condo for at least a week. It looks like Prum/Bitburg area is a mid-point between Cochem and Clervaux (we'll have a car). But I'm having trouble finding any information about Prum or Bitburg. Has anyone been there? Does anyone know of self-catering rentals in the area for 6-8 adults? Thanks so much!

Try this url: http://www.pruem.de/ti.php?inhalt=ti...=kontextti.php
Only in German, but you can order a catalogue of available apartments(Ferienwohnungen).
I spent a night i Prüm last week and it was nice, but small...
Not many restaurants as far as I could find

Thank you Ragnar for the tip. Perhaps we would be better off staying a few days at Clervaux and then a few at Cochem or Trier? Our main purpose is to see the WWII sites at the Ardennes where our father fought. Clervaux looks lovely on the webpage. Would you recommend we stay there or in another Ardennes town? Thanks again!

I have been to both Cochem and Trier a few times and loved them both. Either would make a pleasant base, but I'm not sure of your travel distance to sites you wish to visit.
If Pruem still suits your travel plans best for accomodations, you can always email the Tourist Information center for the town at [email protected]
and ask for help with Ferienwohnungen (self-catering apts) or Hotels/Pensionen (small gusesthouses or B&Bs). You can write them in english with specific apartment desires (ie: # of bedrooms, handicapped access, balcony, etc) and they can get back to you with a list of what fits your specifications.
They may be able to book for you, though more often they will refer you to the owner's email or fax contact.
Hope this helps.

HaHa!
if you go to www.pruem.de
Click Right top on Tourismus & Freizeit (Tourism and free time)
scroll down to either/or
Ferienwohnung or Hotels and click.
There is an option top right for descriptions of possibliites IN ENGLISH!
Even if you use this method first, then contact TI to wrap up the deal...

Thanks so much everyone, for the suggestions! I'll look at all of them, with the proper terminology! Thanks again!
