Safe Hotels in Naples Italy

I am looking for some hotels that are in safe areas. Budget is flexible, I would like some good views if possible.

I can recommend Best Western Hotel Plaza in Naples and you can book it via the hotel's website or www.booking.com.
The hotel was safe, clean and very central-the breakfast was very good and included in the room price.

About the only area of Naples that can be deemed "unsafe" is the area closest to the train station, and even then it is more a question of it being a bit chaotic and seedy, rather truly dangerous. If you want views, you will need to go to the port areas or to the Vomero neighborhood.

It is better to book a small bed-and-breakfast than a large hotel, because very often the owners live on the premises, and they have much greater control over the small premises and access to it than the large hotels.

But reading user reviews on booking.com and venere.com is the best way to select a hotel. Guests are very quick to talk about security issues, on the street outside and in the hotel, especially if they didn't like something.

Many of the hotels in Naples are inner-city hotels without much of a view. There are some gorgeous hotels on Via Partenope, fronting the Bay of Naples in the Santa Lucia neighborhood, with views of the Castel dell'Ovo.

We stayed at the most reasonably priced of those hotels last year- the HOtel Excelsior- and really loved it. The Excelsior is an old hotel with big rooms, great views, and an unbelievable breakfast buffet served on a garden terrace looking over the water.

We liked the location because there were so many waterfront seafood restaurants across the street, as well as a long promenade which was wonderful for walking or jogging. But it is a hike ( about 20-30 minutes) from the historical center.

We stayed at the Hotel Miramare in Naples, which is literally looking across the bay at Vesuvius. The pros are the view which cannot be beat, and the staff who were very nice. The con was that the hotel is quite 'time worn'.....honestly it is a little shabby, but the rooftop terrace is stunning. Read about it on Trip Advisor and you will see there are mixed reviews. I did feel very safe in the hotel at all times.
