Please suggest best plan for arrive Heathrow, overnight layover, depart Gatwick

I've been reading previous posts, but would like some help for my own circumstances.

Arrive Heathrow 8:05 p.m.; overnight layover; depart Gatwick 10:35 a.m.

What are your best suggestions for an economical but comfortable solution?

Thanks~

W/ an evening arrival and morning departure you won't have time to see much of anything in London.

So I'd just take the direct LHR/LGW coach and stay at a Gatwick hotel. Arriving around 8:00 you won't be checked in at he hotel until nearly 11:00 p.m. (or possibly later) and can sleep in until about 7:00-7:30 if you stay right at Gatwick

I agree. Trying to do anything in the morning, either from LHR or from the city is inviting disaster.

Take the Speedlink train to Gatwick and stay overnight at Le Meridien. After arrival in Gatwick you can reach the hotel via a tunnel. Stayed there on my way to Kenya and it was perfect. Had dinner in a cafe in Le Meridien if it's not too late for you.

That would be a Speedlink coach (bus) - not a train. There is no train connecting LHR and LGW.

Thanks so much. I'm sure staying near the airport would be much less stressful. Do the coaches run continuously?

It looks like they do run quite frequently throughout the day and night. Here's a link to the afternoon and evening schedules.

and also, the Le Meridien is no more....

It's part of the Sofitel chain now....

That one is located in the north terminal and the Hilton is in the south terminal.

When I've had to stay right near an airport in London I've had pretty good luck using Priceline to get a room at much less than the advertised rate. If you're only spending a few hours sleeping at the hotel this can be a relatively inexpensive way to get a decent night's sleep and be close to the airport in the morning.

We are staying at the Ibis Gatwick end of May. Don't know when you are travelling but will see if I can find your post when we get back and let you know.

enanjva1-- I stayed at an Ibis once in England. It was funny-- everything about the room seemed tiny! Let me know what you think! We are traveling in October. Have a great trip!
