traveling from Heathrow to Gatwick

We arrive at London Heathrow at 10:15 AM, then have to depart London Gatwick at 2:30 PM for travel to the U.S.

What is the best mode of transportation, and how much time should we allow?

Thanks!

The two airports are connected by the Speedlink coach service. You should allow a minimum of 4 hours for the connection - you are just under the wire.

You cannot check your bags through so you have to collect them at LHR, go through immigration, catch the bus (easy to find the departure point in the arrivals hall), and then at LGW you have to check in and go through security.

I find it a little easier to do LHR > LGW like you are traveling, instead of LGW > LHR, mainly because I find check in and security easier at Gatwick.

Hi,

Don't mean to dissapoint but this is a very tight connection.

A taxi could be £60.

The best way I could think for that timescale would be take the Gatwick Express to Victoria - takes 30 mins and runs every 30 mins and then transfer via Underground via Circle Line - say 30 mins I think to Paddington and then Heathrow express - 15 minutes every 30 or 15 minutes.

Allow 1 hour for transfer.

Gatwick Express = £15 each approx
Heathrow Express = £15 each approx
Underground = £2 each approx

Good luck

PLEASE ignore ABARKIE's suggestion. Thousands of people do the LHR / LGW transfer every day and few if any try to do it through central London.

The coach is set up for this direct trip -
