Hotel Bretonnerie or Jeanne d'arc?

Hotel Bretonnerie or Jeanne d'arc?
We are considering staying in the Classic Room at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie or a twin room at the Jeanne d’arc. The Bretonnerie is more money and the “Classic” is a smaller room but the hotel seems more upscale. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels for a comparison? Thank you for your assistance.

I stayed at Bretonnerie for a few weeks about ten years ago. The rooms vary a lot; I had a large one, probably called a suite. I liked the hotel but I would not call it very "upscale." I would stay there again if the price were right.

We stayed at the Bretonnerie in May of 1999. We loved it. We had a small double. It may have been a classic, but it was on the front and small. It was very nicely decorated and had a nice (marble) bathroom. We enjoyed being on the front. It was hot while we were there and we had the large windows open all the time. It was noisy at times at night, but we happened to enjoy the scene. We sat on the edge of our bed and looked out over the street below. I have since been staying at apartments in the marais, but if I were to stay at a hotel I would definitely choose the Bretonnerie.

We stayed at teh Bretonnerie a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. We were in a double "charming", which we thought it really was. We loved the location and the room, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

If I remember correctly the room was a classic (checking the pariserve.com website and looking at price)The room is pictured on the above mentioned website. It is the far left picture. Upon entering the room to the left there was a built in closet with drawers inside. There may have been a dresser. I don't remember. There was a mini fridge. We didn't touch anything inside, but did make a little room for some orangina, etc. that we had purchased from a Franprix located 2 streets up on Rambuteau. I read some of the reviews of the Bretonnerie on Tripadvisor. There were good and bad reviews. If you are looking for luxury, the services of a large hotel, american style amenities, then don't stay at the Bretonnerie. If you expect an experience that is to me truly Parisian, then you will like the hotel. We did not eat breakfast there, so can't comment on that. There were plenty of places in the neighborhood to go. We used to enjoy walking up to the Place des Vosges and have croissant and cafe at Ma Bourgogne.

I stayed at the Jeanne d'Arc a few years ago in a huge room with 2 doubles (with a small bathroom with shower basin and WC) and large windows over 2 streets. It is a lot cheaper than the Bretonnerie but both are in great locations. I really love the pedestrian square Place du Marche ste Catherine a few yards from the Jeanne d'Arc and the shops in rue de Sevigne and rue du Turenne a 1/2 block away, so given the much lower price, that would be my choice (although still go to see rue Ste Croix de la Bretonnerie) and have a casual dinner or lunch at No 10 - Au Rendezvous des Amis,
