Hotel Alminar or somewhere else in Seville...Paradors, maybe

Anyone stay at the Hotel Alminar? I would really like some feedback on a Seville hotel..it's overwhelming with all the choices. We are looking for a nice place where the room is a decent size, nice bathroom, helpful staff, and little extras (I'm seeing Seville is not a "breakfast included" hotel city.
What about the Parador chain?
thanks for the help!!

I have stayed at the Hotel Alminar.

The questions you are asking are subjective matters.

I thought it was a good value hotel. I had a penthouse room. It was located in totally pedestrian area and was quiet. The breakfast was simple, but hey, it was only €6 each two years ago.

The Hotel is NOT located in Barrio de Santa Cruz, but in between Plaza Nueva, the shopping area, and the Catedral. It was located conveniently for my objectives but would be in the less desirable location if you are looking for the Santa Cruz type of neighborhood.

Hi sara; Keep in mind that the www.hotelalminar.com/ is only 50 meters from the 'cathederal'. So it may not be in what is called the Santa Cruz area, but it couldn't be any closer. It is in a very narrow street, with no cars. Parking is close by, a five or eight minute walk, depending upon which garage you chose. iris1745/dick

We stayed at the Hotel Alminar in March and really enjoyed it (our previous trip we stayed at the Alfonso XIII and HATED it!). The only caveat is the parking situation. We were driving in for only two nights and got so lost (DO NOT follow GPS!!!) that we finally had to park at the first garage we saw and walk to the hotel, get our bearings then walk back and get our luggage.

Other than the parking we loved this hotel. We were traveling with a baby and they gave us a ground floor room that had tons of space so we could have room with her crib up. The bathroom was really nice and the staff incredibly pleasant and helpful. We loved the location as we were only in town to see a few sights then headed out so it was convenient. We did not eat the breakfast as it appeared quite meager for the price (a coffee and roll down the street was much more suitable for us).

Not sure what the "little extras" are you are looking for but we really enjoyed this hotel. We stayed at paradors in many other cities but there is not one in Seville.

We've stayed at the Gran Melia Colon hotel ( http://www.gran-melia-colon.com/en/ ) which is in the historic center of the city near the Taurine, the Museum of Carriages, and the Archaeological Museum. Hotel and staff was nice but we really liked the location!

Best of luck.

Hi Sarabeth:

Long time since we corresponded...hope all is well with you guys...we found the hotel Las Casas de la Juderia to be top notch, in the very heart of Barrio Santa Cruz. Have since directed several family and friends to it...all liked it as well...
Please write if you wish anything else on Sevilla.

We stayed in the Alphonso and LOVED it but the Dona Maria is another place that is right near the cathedral and it has a rooftop pool to boot.

I don't know this hotel, but we stayed at the Hotel Inglaterra on the Plaza Nueva in March and it was nice. The location is an easy walk to the Cathedral. I booked it through Hotels.com and the rate was good.

They have a breakfast buffet but we through it was too expensive, so we walked toward the Cathedral to eat at Starbucks or two cafes across the pedestrian street from it.
