We stayed at Relais Uffizi (www.relaisuffizi.it) which, for us, was reasonably priced and was a perfect location for the tourist destinations. I don't know if they have a/c as we were there mid-September. Happy travels!

Hotel Europa was very affordable and conveniently located in Florence. www.webhoteleuropa.com
But I'll note that they haven't replied to any of my e-mails inquiring about the Blackberry recharger cord I left in my room. I e-mailed 2 days after I checked out and again, 10 days later --in both e-mails I told them the room number I stayed in, the time I checked out, what the cord looks like, and offered to pay for postage to return it to me. Is it unreasonable to have expected a reply given how much junk we all must forget and leave in the room? Just curious.
