Florence Hotel-near Duomo

Any suggestions for a good hotel near the Duomo that's not on a loud street? I have stayed at Residenza dei Pucci before and loved the hotel and location, I'm just looking to see if there's another hotel/B&B out there that I should look at.

I'm planning a trip in September and would love your feedback--I am loving these postings, look for more of mine on Sorrento hotels and traveling the Amalfi Coast.

Thanks,
nykri

We just returned from Italy and stayed at Hotel Aldini in Florence. It is about a 1/2 block from the Duomo. We were pleased. The room was clean, air conditioned and we had a private bath. They claim the rooms are sound-proofed and we had no problems with noise. In fact, the bells from the Duomo actually sounded muffled until we opened the windows! We paid 135 euro per night. They also have breakfast, but we never tried it. Instead, there was a nice cafe around the corner that we usually went to so we could sit ouside and people watch.

Hi nykri,

My family stayed 4 nights in December at Soggiorno Battistero. It's a B&B in Florence with a great view of the Duomo. As you face the Duomo it's located in a building on the right side.

You look out your window at the Baptistry. The rooms were large and they served coffee and croissants in the room for breakfast. The owners are great: nice, helpful, informative.

The only negative is climbing the 50+ stairs as it's located on the 3rd floor of the building.

We just came back and stayed at Hotel Brunelleschi. They have a terrace and we had some wine (which we bought at the local store) on the terrace overlooking the Duomo when we got back after a long day of sightseeing. The rate included breakfast. We had a really nice room with a/c and a private bathroom. It was on a very quiet side street and around the corner from "Festival del Gelatto" the BEST Gelatto place in all of Italy. We did alot of shopping and it was so close to everything, we were able to drop the packages off at the hotel and then go back out for more

Add Moranidi alla Crocetta to your research. A five minute walk from the Duomo in university area. Great accommodations at reasonable price.
