Florence Hotel...Help!

Hello everyone...thank you for all of your help so far in planning my trip to Italy. I am having a bit of a hard time with the hotel in Florence.

My options are:

Tourist House Ghiberti - 150 euro per night - this place looks wonderful but it seems a bit high for Florence

Soggiorno Pezzati Daniela - 64 euro per night. Not my vote...looks a bit run down and further from town and it doesnt have a tv in the room (I know I know...I will be in Italy and wont need a TV, but I really need a tv on in the background to fall asleep).

Hotel Casci - 145 euro per night. Looks nice and great location but for this much money I think I would prefer Tourist House Ghiberti.

Seems like I am getting one extreme or the other. Does anyone know of a place that is around 100 euro a night?

I stayed at the Casci last spring. It was pretty nice. A recent post by Ira recommended a B&B Peterson, as I recall. It looked good and the prices were unbelievable for Florence. They have a website.

Check out the Hotel Dali at 17 Via Dell' Oriuolo. (www.hoteldali.com).

My mother and I stayed there last month and it was WONDERFUL. It's inexpensive (€75/night for a double w/ private bath), clean, and comfortable. It's also very well-located about a 5 minute walk from the Duomo.

The best part about this hotel, however, is the owners, Marco and Samanta. They are a young couple, native to Florence and could not have been nicer or more helpful while we were their guests. They are a relatively new hotel, which is why their rates are so reasonable.

I actually wrote a separate post to rave about this hotel when I got back from my trip. I'll top it for you. It's called something like, "Hotel Recommendation in Florence."

Good luck and have a great trip!

Oh wait . . . I just noticed the part in your post about the TV. Unfortunately, the Hotel Dali does not have TVs in the rooms, so it might not be the best choice for you. You should still check it out, though . . . maybe they could bring one in or something for a small extra charge?? They are VERY accomodating. Couldn't hurt to ask.

I stayed at the Tourist House Ghiberti just a few weeks ago and it was great! We paid E145. Where else can you get a computer and fax in your room, use of a jacuzzi and sauna, all remodeled rooms and baths (very high-tech), a decent breakfast and a great location??? The owners are a lovely young couple and very helpful. They made all our museum reservations in advance for us, etc. It's walkable to everything. I strongly recommend this place.

Hotel Abaco - 75E per night. DW and I stayed here in October. Nothing fancy, but clean rooms and we had our own shower (though it was small, but had a curtain!). We did have to share a bath down the hall, but it was kept immaculately clean. They have TV. We would stay there again as a budget option. It is three blocks from the Duomo and three blocks from the train station. The downside is it is on the third floor of its building and has no lift.

You may want to consider Hotel Kraft, a 4* hotel (www.krafthotel.it/photo.html). It is a bit out of the way (a 15-minute walk from the Duomo) but close to the river and in a quiet residential neighborhood. Very laid back. The room was largest we'd had in Italy and tastefully furnished. We paid somewhere around US$120 when we visited in December 2001. It also gets good reviews on Tripadvisor.

You might try the Residenza Dei Pucci. It costs around 126 euros a night and is only a block from the Duomo. We stayed there in May 2001 and the rooms were clean and well appointed. No elevator however if that is a problem for you.

Hi,

Hotel Il Perseo, right near the Duomo, is max 95E per night. I've stayed there and can recommend it. I don't remember if they have TVs in the rooms. Their web site is:
