WE are 3 couples in late 40's ( soon to be 50!) who need help finding lodging for 2 nights in early June. Ideally it will be walking distance to Duomo and in 150-200E/night. Will finding 3 rooms in same location be a problem?

We (2 couples) very much enjoyed our Florentine stay at Relais Uffizi (www.relaisuffizi.it). The location was perfect for walking to the hot spots - we loved Florence! We upgraded our rooms - beautiful frescoes, large beds, antiques throughout. It was such a bargain, too. Hope this helps...

Not if you start looking now and make your reservations early.

check out Hotel Casci. It's a short walk to the Duomo and a great little "no frills" hotel run by a lovely family who will make you feel very much at home, even if it's only for 2 nights.

We liked the Relais Cavalcanti. It's a small family-owned 'hotel' on one level of a beautiful old building, right near the Uffizi and the Ponte Vecchio. There's a lovely dining/kitchen area you can use 24/7, which is great for getting your group together. I wrote and posted a very detailed trip report about it. It's relatively new, and quite small.

I stayed with friends at La Residenza del Proconsolo last May. The location would be perfect for you. You can see the duomo from the front bedroom. It is steps away. We found it to be a great location. The owners are very nice. If you need reservations or anything they'll take care of it. They made us reservations for the Uffizi and Academia before we arrived. I think they only have 5 bedrooms. Breakfast is brought to your room as there is no common eating area. The rate was very reasonable. Here's the link.

Thanks. It's funny because I was already considering both Hotel Casi and Relasi Uffuzi! I checked the La Residenza site and it looks like it will work too. i'll let you know if I have any luck.
