Playa del Carmen... mosquitoes?

My husband and I just booked a trip to Playa del Carmen in Mexico for a week next month. Does anyone know if there is a problem with mosquitoes. I always get alot of bites. We just read something about malaria and hepatitis A. Are these big problems there?

I've been many times and have never found them to be at all a problem and I am a total mosquito magnet.

I use a 30% DEET on my legs and elbows and neck for al fresco dining. The few there are around love to hide under dinnner tables and munch on your ankles and behind your knees.

I don't think you have to worry too much if you are going in the drier winter months, which you are, but it doesn't hurt to take along a small bottle of insect repellant, just in case. We have never experienced mosquitoes in the winter months, but only in the summer months. 8-)

Hardly any at all this time of year. Always handy though to keep some in your bag for your ankles and legs while dining out at night. Have a great time. It's a wonderful place.
