Peter Island rooms

We're planning to visit Peter Island next winter for 5 nights. The beachfront suites have a minimum 7 night stay during this period. Does anyone have any experience with the Ocean View rooms? Are they nice? The ground floor rooms have a larger square footage, but I wondered if the upstairs rooms with the peaked ceilings and balconies with the ocean views would be preferable. Any locations better than others? Is the walk to the beach a big deal?
Thanks for the help.

I've stayed in both the Ocean Views and the Beach Rooms ... the Beach Rooms are fantastic - large rooms, huge bathrooms, and of course direct access to the beach. Of the ocean view rooms, the lower level rooms are much larger and have larger patios. The views of Tortola are typically better on the first floors because many of the second floor views are blocked by palm trees. The other disadvantage to the second floor rooms is the incredible noise from near nightly rain storms. The roofs are not shingled, so in a rain storm you think the ceiling is doomed to fall in on you. My first vote would be to stay the extra 2 days and stay on the beach. After that, I'd pick the first floor ocean view rooms. Your hike to the beach will take about 10 minutes from the ocean view rooms.

We've stayed in all the room types at Peter Island and I don't remember rain pounding on the roof. The BVI only gets about 32" of rain a year (not a whole lot) and the tropical showers are rather nice to have passing over once in a while.

The Beachfront suites are wonderful and have two person jaccuzis. The Ocean View rooms have the advantage of being near the fresh water pool, early morning coffee and pastries, and main dining room. It's about a 5 minute walk to the beach (or you can grab a ride).

we like the privacy of the upper Ocean View rooms which have a nice big balcony. The lower ones have a spacious patio and some like those too.
Of the beach front rooms, which is better upper or lower level. Also for two hyperactive people is 7 days too long here,or should I look into the ashore/afloat package.

I've stayed in the upstairs OV rooms and don't recall hearing any rain at night. We also had a nice view from our balcony. I prefer the upstairs rooms as they feel more private. It's a short walk to the main beach. Haven't stayed in the beachfronts before.

Beachfront upper and lower... been in both and like both. The upstairs ones have more privacy, of course, and great views of the bay and beach. However, the lower ones have a nice big patio opening to a grassy area with hammocks.

I doubt you'll be bored with 7 days at Peter Island - there's lots to do, or do nothing at all. Read our daughter's report at www.scubatreks.com - between diving, snorkeling, hiking, taking the day trip to Virgin Gorda (a must do!), they said they could have stayed another week easily!

Thanks everyone for all of the advice. We'll split 5 nights each at Secret Harbour in St. Thomas and Peter Island. So I was wondering if anyone has any specific room numbers for either resort to request when I reserve. We were thinking of the Beachfront Studio at Secret Harbour since you can walk right out on the beach. Unless there are any downstairs rooms at Peter Island with good views and privacy that someone can recommend please suggest an upstairs room number that you have liked. Thanks!
