how is the beach in Montego bay??

I am looking for a luxury resort for the Xmas holidays. A beautiful beach which is very clean and tranquil is a priority. I was interested in the Ritz in Montego Bay, but i know nothing about Montego Bay. It is very expensive for that time of year but I am willing to pay if it is truly beautiful. I also was reading about the half Moon Bay... Is the beach nicer there? I was first interested in Montego Bay due to direct flights from NYC bout would be interested in other loactions.

Thanks in advance for any help

In terms of beaches, the nicest beaches in Montego Bay are actually in town, but that beach is public and not lined with luxury resorts. The Ritz-Carlton beach is small and not very good at all. The one at Half Moon is much better. But the beaches in Negril are so far above what you'll find at any of the MoBay resorts that I think you would consider the extra travel time well spent.

The Ritz has a small beach; Half Moon's is better. But if you're a beach afficiando, the 1 hour transfer from MoBay to Negril is well worth it. Ritz-style luxury is rare in Negril. Look at The Caves or Grand Lido for comparables;neither will have the parcel of kids the Ritz tends to attract nor the hugeness of Half Moon.

I should change my user name to Half Moon Lover. I want to point out that although the resort does cover many acres, it seems small and intimate to me. Negril's beaches are beautiful and well worth a day trip, but I think you'd find the atmosphere and tranquility more inviting at the Half Moon.

Moondance is special. Most villas have hteir own pool, it's not a shared one. Tbe beach is nice and wide, villas set back behind trees. You have your own chef, bartender, staff, the furniture is high quality, lots of nice touches.
