You can watch moment by moment
gotostjohn.com/live/index.htm for Cruz Bay
And out Coral Bay way, go to
virginislandsdailynews.com/Webcam/index1.html
They usually say scattered showers or some such ... liquid sunshine may be on one side of the island and not the other and even stormy with rain passing thru ...
Remember you are already wet if you are in the water and I've never figured out the difference between partly cloudy and variably cloudy.

I just looked and that is a typical forecast for STJ and most other islands. We just got back Saturday and the weather was perfect. We had a shower or two at night and some liquid sunshine. Then, a couple of quick heavy showers the last day. It was quite breezy all week which kept the temps feeling very comfortable. We rarely had to turn on our AC. The North Shore swells were up a bit making the surf a little rough on some of the North Shore Beaches. If the swells are up, try Big Maho or Salt Pond for snorkeling. I recommend going to Salt Pond and taking the short hike to Drunk Bay. Very cool place. I'll be doing a mini trip report soon.

We were there this exact time last year, and had excellent weather. The forecast doesn't change much, it ALWAYS seems to say scattered showers, because it does usually rain everyday. The good news is that the average rain lasts 5 minutes. I'd say it rained a couple times each day, but not enough to effect anything. The 5 minute showers actually felt nice....
Don't worry about the weather, your chances are great that it'll be just fine.

Thank you so much, I don't know why I even look at the weather reports, they're rarely right and do get me worried sometimes. Can't wait to get to STJ-I'll write a report when we return.

Hi Snorklesue. I've been away from the forum for a while so I missed your previous question about Paper Moon Villa. Did I mention it? Gee, it's been a while but I think it's the one which is right on the water. Yes, anything near the water can get pretty buggy at night and sometimes during the day depending upon the vegetation, amount of shade, etc. For example, even the waterside restaurants can be pretty buggy at night, but it shouldn't be a huge problem if the villa affords indoor space you can retreat to, and lots of bug spray with a high deet content works for us. I understand the mosquito coils work really well. I've never used them myself because we have a couple of oscillating fans on our porch which do a great job blowing the bugs away at night. As for the weather, many days we've been on STJ has seen some rain, but I've never had a completely rainy day. The island is so small, weather systems come and go very quickly. I love this time of year there. Have a spectacular time!
