Blue Horizon Hotel

Will be staying there a week starting next week.

I'm currently booked in a Standard Room. Is it worthwhile to upgrade to Superior? I can't tell the difference from the descriptions online, but am willing to pay for the upgrade.

Also, I was thinking of calling ahead to ask for a particular location - beach view, pool view, etc. I know it's on the road, so a beach view might not be the best choice. Any advice?

Stencil...are you inquiring about the BH on Grenada? If so, I stayed there for two weeks at beginning of March. We stayed in a Deluxe room. The only real difference I could tell from looking at the Superior was it seemed you had sliding doors from your bedroom to you patio rather than exiting out the room door. There is beach view.

Stencil.....I meant to say that there is NO beach view....you are a 5 minute walk from the beach access at the Spice Island Resort.

The rooms highest up the hillside give the best views - over the bay toward St. Georges - but you will not see the beach. Those have always been our choice. Lower rooms will mostly look out to the garden or pool area, nice enough, but not a real scenic view.

Will do, Anonx. Now if we could just get someone to post some comments in here about the differences in the rooms, I'd be all set - I leave on Wed.

Stencil,
the information I got from Blue Horizon regarding rooms are as follows:

Standard Room : Garden/Pool View, fridge.a/c.

Superior Room: Garden/Oceanview, kitchenette, a/c

One Bedroom Suite:Queen Bed in bedroom, separate room with pull out sofa and full kitchen,a/c.

We booked a standard room because of the package we booked directly with the hotel which was offering a special rate that includes breakfast. But,requests were made and noted for a room with a kitchenette which means a free upgrade if available.

From the website, travel hop and reviews from a friend of mine who stayed there the rooms are very good, recently refurbished.

I like the location as I have been to Barbados before and like being walking distance to the shops,Bubbas, Bert's as well as Rockley Beach being just across the street, though we are renting a car this trip.

Anonx:

Thanks for the info. I just got off the phone with their reservations people. Very nice, by the way.

I put in a request for a quiet room and decent view, but not for a kitchenette, as we really don't need it. I'll play it by ear upon arrival, I imagine.

I too love the area. We stayed at Sandy Beach last year, which was great, but couldn't pass up the deal on Blue Horizon.

Through whom are you renting a car? I thinking of doing the same.

Stencil,
we booked via the net and chose Stoutes Car Rental. Top Car Rentals had good rates as well, especially if you want the car for longer than one day, but we only need the car for one day so decided to go with Stoutes as they seem to get good reviews and I haven't read much about Top Car.

The reservations people at Blue Horizon are great!
