Atlantis

I just returned from Atlantis with my wife and had a great weekend getaway. I read all the reviews before departing. We did stay in the Royal Towers which was comparable to an upscale Vegas hotel. The high prices everyone complains about are justified alone in the quality of the Atlantis marine exhibits. Fantastic...
Most of the people we met who complained about the prices didn't even know they had a marine exhibit. The resort is huge and the Coral and Beach Towers are comparable to average Holiday Inn. If folks would leave the pools and casino for an hour or two to visit the complex marine exhibits they would better understand the rates charged. The other big complaint I read on message boards before I visited Atlantis was about its Service...Americans traveling abroad must remember that if you show respect you will receive it back. The "Ugly American" factor was rampant at Atlantis and I understand why the Bahamians can sometimes seem rude and uncaring. In the 50 or so Atlantis staff members we encountered, every single one treated us professionally. Atlantis is great for a weekender...Not perfect for a week...

Feel free to e-mail with questions...

Hi:

I'm going for 2 nights this fall. Did you go to the comedy club and if so, how was it? Do they have any other good shows? Or a house band playing steel drum/local music by the pool or beach?

Was their beach nice and water pretty clear?

Are the lines/waits for the waterslides very long?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Kristy!
Went in April, and will answer based on my experience.
Lines for slides build as day goes on; longest wait was 20-25 min, but most times no problem.
Ocean beach was closed due to high winds and rough surf. Interior man-made beach fine.
Excellent house band by pool every afternoon made my stay!
Not much happening for night life. Rather disappointing. One trio or performer per night somewhere on the premises; very low key.
Enjoy! It's a very neat place.
BTW - How could someone possibly go to Atlantis and NOT know about The Dig?!?!

The manmade beach is pretty mediocre with greenish water. The ocean beach outside is better.

There is no way anyone could stay at Atlantis for more than a day and not find the aquariums.

Atlantis is a cheesy, Atlantic City type hotel/resort which is the single most overpriced place I've ever seen.
The food is ungodly overpriced and of truly unimpressive quality and the place is dominated by Dollywood type visitors.

It is a great destination for kids, I must say.
But why any adult without kids would ever visit this place is beyond me.
