Which Maui Condos
We have stayed at the Marriott for our last two vacations to Ka'anapali Beach, the last time in the time share unit. While the unit was nice, the kitchenette was very limited; microwave, dishwasher, fridge. We liked being able to walk to the Whaler Village, Lelani's, etc. The Alii looks great but I am frankly looking for something a little less pricey. Walking distance for us is within two miles. Any thoughts?

For prices similar to Kaanapali, try out Wailea, the beaches are incredible. If you want more bang for the buck, try Kihei--both of these destinations have huge numbers of condos. And, if you can get in between the two, you get great prices, and not as much traffic!

I do prefer the Wailea area beaches. They are beautiful but our sons like the activity around Ka'anapali and Wailea is a bit more subdued. Kehei looks a little crowded to me. What about S.Kehei?

DAwnCt - I agree that Kaanapali is the best place for kids. Our boys love to go to Wailea for the day.. (Big Beach) but still love the action of Kaanapali.
We compromised and are staying at Kaanapali Shores (VRBO.com)for 5 days. it is 5min. drive to Whalers Village and then staying at the Westin, right next to Whalers Village for 3 more days. Eldorado would be a good choice to be within walking distance to Blackrock and Whalers Village for dinners. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

We've stayed at Maui Hill in S. Kihei a couple of times and been very pleased with it. Well-furnished condos, good pool, good kitchen, tennis and putting green, reasonable costs, but is across the street, not on the beach. However, it's a matter of just a few minutes to the Wailea beaches and snorkling and is away from all the crowded part of Kihei.

We just got back from Maui and stayed at the Embassy Suites - next door to Kaanapali Shores (5 minutes to Whaler's Village)...there is a special going on - 5 days/4nights $295 http://www.mauiembassy.com/minivac/s...Amenities.html to see a timeshare presentation.... we did this last year and extended the time to 7 nights...ck it out. Make sure to ask for a room that has been redone! Have a great trip - the weather was wonderful!

You might check out The Whaler which is right by the ALII and Whaler's Village. The rooms are great, the Lanais are large and views terrific. It is less expensive than the others but has recently been updated and is very lovely.
