Where to stay in Vegas?
I am going to vegas with a bunch of friends for one friend's 21st birthday! Needless to say, we are broke, so we want to have fun for as cheap as possible, but we also want to have fun! Where do we stay? Where do the young people stay so we can go to the pool and check out the guys?
Any suggestions would be great. We had decided on Riviera, but I read some reviews that are leading me to think otherwise. Thank you all!

Reports say that the Riviera is dirty and run down. Also, not a great location for walking up and down the strip. A lot of people recommend Mandalay Bay but that's not for people on a budget - very expensive. I think Flamingo would be a good choice.

The Palms is taking over the young hip crowd. Hard Rock is still a great place to hang by the pool, gamble, and party, but the hotel is not great.
The Palms is newer with great restaurants, bars (Real World was filmed here), pool area has cool bar (Rain). They also have great rates, yet all hotels have much lower rates in the summer!

Young and hip types hand at Palms, Hard Rock, Mandalay Bay. Hard Rock is on the cheeap side, the others are not. you can get Palms for $80 on weekdays, Mandalay 99-109 weekdays,, Hard Rock $59 weekdays. Figure double for weekends.

My top ten Vegas hotel would be the Dunes, Landmark, Sands, Silver Silver, Castaways, Mint, El Rancho, Thunderbird, Hacienda, and Marina. It's been a while since I've been to Vegas, but, I'm sure the above mentioned would give you a "Vegas Experience."
