Where to stay in Orlando?

we're going to Orlando in august, but not doing Disney this trip. We need some recommendations for resorts/hotels outside of the park that are luxurious. We're looking for nice rooms and pool area. Not a lot of kids, is there such a thing in Orlando? Thanks!

If you're not doing Disney and don't want to be around a bunch of kids, just don't stay in the resort areas. Downtown Orlando is about 15 miles away but light years apart from the theme park crowds. You might want to consider a downtown Orlando hotel.

Grand Cypress Hyatt.
Upgrade to Concierge Level, if possible.

Westin Grand Bohemian is brand new downtown. It is walking distance to most of downtown and the LYMMO runs right by it also.

Two of my favorites are the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, which is magnificent and also the Palace. It's on property, I guess, but not actually a Disney property. It's right across from Downtown Disney. It has the Outback restaurant (at least it did), not part of the chain, but great food.
