where to stay in boston?

My friend and I are both in our mid-20s and are planning on taking a trip to boston but not sure where is the best area to stay in order to enjoy boston? Also any recommendations on must-sees or do while there?

There are many great threads and great pros on the board, but I can recommend the Charlesmark Hotel. It is in the Back Bay location which is wonderful and was fairly well priced for a boutique hotel in great location. Cool sidewalk bar in good weather as well. Enjoy!

Hotels in Boston are expensive. You might want to give us an idea of your price range per-night.
As far as must-sees go, what in general do you like to do?
Boston Proper is small, anywhere you stay will put you close to activites and/or public transit.

Much depends on your budget...are you willing to use the T if you stay on the outskirts to save some $$$$?

I love the Newbury Guest House...right in the center of the universe (IMHO).

I have not ever stayed there, but I just found the new Westin for $169 a night on their website. That looks like a great price but I dont know anything about it.
