Where to go in Hawaii ?
I am planning a trip to Hawaii and would like to know where I'd be able to spend a week or two without needing a car .
I am open to going to any of the islands . I know I could go to Honolulu and be in a good area to be without a car , but what other options do I have where I might not get bored .
Not that I'd get bored in paradise! I'm interested in being near a beach, restaurants and shops . .
Thanks for any suggestions .

I have to agree that the only island to get around without a car is Oahu. Is there a reason for avoiding a car rental? You can get a little car to tote you around the islands and each island is of such different character, they are worth a visit and a rental car!

I just got back from one week in Waikiki/Honolulu (Oahu). It was my 5th trip there. I've never rented a car. Just get around fine on The Bus, shuttle or taxi, and on foot.
The only other island I think this could work for is staying right in Lahaina on Maui.

Without 'wheels', you'd miss a lot -- and spend a lot on tours to places you can easily drive yourself. Maui has some bus service -- really better for people who are on the island for months than just a short trip. Many condos have no parking fees.

sunbum1944, I always stay right in central Waikiki somewhere (i've been at Waikiki Sand Villa, Hawaiian King, White Sands, and the now defunct Hawaiiana Hotel).
That's my point sf7307, at least being in Lahaina there are some things you can walk to. Plenty of fun shops, restaurants, art, etc. right in that area.
ChiSue, You can take The Bus all around Honolulu you dno't have so "spend a lot on tours".
