where to find Big Island Hawaii condo for rent?
Aloha,
Anyone have any tips on where to find a condo on the BI for 2 wks in November this year? All the sites I've checked have nothing avail...
Need 2br 2ba in Kohala area or Kona area
Would like a beach at least close-by...(walking distance).
I checked vrbo.com and all the really nice places are booked thru next year. Then some have nothing booked and those scare me!
Any tips would be appreciated. Mahalo!

Suggest you pickup guidebook: "Hawaii-The Big Island Revealed".
website for guidebook:
http://www.wizardpub.com/bigisland/bigisland.html
This excellent guidebook reviews condo properties, locations, and has aerial photos.
I would be surprized if you cannot find condo's at Kona Reef in Kona on www.expedia.com for example, though there is not a swimmable sandy beach there, due to the presence of lava but condo's are decent and affordable there. Still, I would try to find something in Kohala region first, check the guidebook.

I got these from my most recent issue of "Hawaii" magazine - www.konarentals.com, www.alohahawaiivacations.com, www.bluemoonrentals.com, www.hukilau.net, www.KonaHawaii.com, www.konaparadise.com, www.HawaiiG4.com, www.KonaOnTheBeach.com, www.b-s-c.com/hawaii, www.konatownhome.com. These are just suggestions, I haven't stayed at any of them or even looked at them. Hopefully, you'll find what you're looking for. Aloha!

I love Kanaloa at Kona. Nice big complex, Edward's restaurant, one oceanside pool, two other pools. I would try a search, many of the condos are by owner there, and many are advertised in other web sites besides vrbo. I did a search (on Google)and found mine, not on vrbo. Check out the aerial maps to see where your condo would be. Ocean front is ideal, and the lanais are very big. There is not a beach close by, there are only a few great beaches in Kona, but the beach is just down the road. There is a huge shopping center and grocery store 1/2 mile from the condo!!! bonus!
It's hard to find, If you decided to stay there, get really good directions.
I am staying there for my 2nd time in Oct. after a stay at the Hilton.
