2 bedrm condo in Big Island
Hi,
My dad keeps talking about a condo that he has stayed at that he believes is called the Mauna Lani something. I've tried to look this up but as there appear to be many places called Mauna Lani, I've had a hard time. He remembers the 2 bedroom condos being huge. Can anyone tell what he's talking about?
And besides my dad's "phantom" place, does anyone have any good suggestions for a 2 bedroom condo. There will be five adults and 1 three year old. We'll be there in August 2006. I'm not sure which area we should stay in. We definitely plan on going to the Volcano Nat'l park, playing some golf, and playing in the water.
Thanks!

We stayed at a beautiful 2 bedroom, ocean view condo at Kanaloa at Kona. We found the location very convenient for the things we wanted to do on the Kona side. If you plan to do Volcano National Park, I would recommend a night or two on that side of the island.

We have allways enjoyed the Kona by the Sea, about 2.5 miles south of Kailua Kona.

They have reasonably priced two bedroom units.
It was under complete renovation when we were there in the summer of 2004, so we had to stay at another place. We were very disappointed with the alternative.

Your dad probably stayed at The Islands at Mauna Lani, one of the most expensive condos on the Big Island:
http://www.classicresorts.com/islands/index.aspx
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...opnav=&browse=
Other rental properties in the very upscale Mauna Lani community are:
The Villages at Mauna Lani
The Terrace at Mauna Lani
Mauna Lani Point
Here's a realty website that will give you some clue as to the different properties:

If you still want an upscale condo near the best golf courses at lower rates, check out the various ones in the Waikoloa Beach Resort (NOT the Waikoloa Village) community:
Kolea
Fairway Villas
Vista Waikoloa
Waikoloa Colony
Shores

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Just to let you know, I ended up going with the Islands at Mauna Lani because I found a great deal through aavacations.com. A 2-bedroom 2100 sq ft condo for 5 nights at the Islands, airfare for 4 from LAX, and a minivan car rental for 5 days cost $3700. I thought that wasn't bad for August, but I didn't do that much comparison-shopping. Thanks again!
