When does "June Gloom" clear in LaJolla?

We have an event to attend with our 12 and 15 year old boys in Anaheim June 19-23. Thought we might head down to La Jolla the next day, June 24, as the boys love to boogie board and surf, and stay a few days. Realize we will be in wet suits, but hoping it will be sunny and warm. Any chance?

There's always a chance, but then again there's a chance that June Gloom could last into July.

It's unpredictable - it could (and often does) clear by noon, but there are also days when it doesn't clear ever.

I kind of feel that June gloom hasn't been such a big problem the last few years. If it does appear then you could head over to the beach in Coronado. We find that if june gloom is bad in la jolla, then a trip over to Coronado usually finds blue skies. Either way water should be warm by that time and we never find it to be a problem.

If you go to La Jolla Shores, then take your boys to "Jeff's burgers" at the shores. Its a family favorite.

Thanks to all. I wonder if we should just stay in Coronado then? After researching old posts, I had been thinking that La Jolla shores would be perfect since it's a fun area and the waves there are good for boogie boarding and novice surfers. Do you think we have alot better chance of sun at the Del? How are the waves?

We will have a rental car and have always been happy to drive around and beach hop, though.

Thanks alot!

I spent several weeks in Coronado last June. It was usually overcast in the mornings but always cleared by noon. I found it nice.

My sister lives in La Jolla, and I do find it more overcast there. May the cliffs hold it in place?

I truly wouldn't worry about if for June 24. The odds are it will be full days of sun by then, or only gloomy in the early morning.

I forgot to say that I grew up in Coronado, and hadn't spent time there in June for many years, so I think I was more aware of the weather than the neighbors.

Waves are great in Coronado in the summer.

riley - even if it is sunny - the water will be mighty cold. Hold onto those wet suits

Is Jeff's Burgers counter service or wait serviced? I keep reading about it, so it must be good. Also read about a place called the Burger Lounge.
