What's Hotel 17, NYC like?

I'm staying in Hotel 17 in New York City in November. Has anyone stayed and if so, could you tell me what to expect? Thanks

It's one less than Hotel 18 and one higher than Hotel 16.

Sorry, don't know the hotel, but at least this brought your post back up for someone who does.

It is a step up from a hostel.

Since so many of the rooms are shared bath, I would be afraid they would run out of private bath rooms and make me share.

I would not stay there no matter what the savings.

Have you checked out Tripadvisor.com? It gets quite good reviews - but you must realize that it is a european style pension and that the baths are shared - not private.

Reviewers rated it much better than a hostel.

It is indeed nicer than a hostel. I stayed there before and indeed had to share a bath, but the room was decent, the location great, and it certainly served my purposes well (but I'm a pretty low budget traveler and have no problem staying in hostels, etc). I would stay there again.

At the risk of monopoizing the whole board with this topic -- topping for pykiwi.
