We flew out of Las Vegas last Wednesday at 12:00 noon. We arrived at the airport at 9:45 AM, was all the way through security in 5 minutes! We were flying Southwest, the other terminal was way busier than the one we were going through. Flew home from Nashville early Sunday morning and security was just as quick.
No one re-checked out carry ons before boarding the planes. In Vegas they made an announcement that we could not take any beverages purchased even inside the terminal onto the plane...but no one checked the bags, so we could have taken the drinks we bought and put them in the bottom of my bag. Also, before we ate some food in Vegas since we had 2 hours to wait, I went in my bag and got out the hand sanitizer to clean my kids hands.......uh-oh, forgot we could not take any liquids or gels....oh well, already through security, they didn't say anything. Same with the return, had it in my bag, passed it through security without them taking my little bottle of gelled hand sanitizer! DH said he was going to report me to security!

On most of our flights lately the whole flight crew has bottles of water and cups of coffee and they board the plane with them. One pilot was sitting next to us and he said the no drinks was no in effect for any flight crews and I would believe him as I didn't see any of them stopped from bringing drinks on board. I really wonder why passengers can't biy drinks in the airport (after clearing security) and have them stamped with some color stamp or something which shows they bought it in the airport. The present system doesn't seem to be working if everyone is just walking on with a drink as other posters have mentioned, and no one has done a thing about it.

Security checkpoint as Logan for our flight from Boston to Norfolk yesterday was FAST. It was my first experience with the "puff" machine, the archway that blows air at you. Are those new or have I just missed them?

Several military police in combat/desert fatigues/berets/firearms strapped to their legs were patrolling Terminal A.
