What happens at Disney World when it starts raining?
We are going to Disney World and Universal soon and I have been noticing that they are getting alot of rain in the Orlando area. My question's are, should we carry rain suits with us and what happens should it start raining while at Disney? do they close certain rides? should we carry towels to wipe the wet seats from people that have ridden rides before us?
Many Thanks,
Many Thanks,

We just spent four days in Orlando (Dec. 12-15, 97) and it rained every day. If you only have a limited number of days, you still go to the parks, regardless of the weather. I brought two umbrellas from home and a jacket that reversed to a water resistant side, plus one of those ugly plastic things for my head. I used the umbrellas and the raincoat most of the time, but my husband and two adult children purchased the yellow ponchos (with a hood) available in all the parks ($5.00 each). Disney is a sea of yellow when it's raining! If you have young children, you'd never find them if they walked away from you! These worked fine, but I would recommend several sets of shoes, because they can't dry enough overnight. Also, we use the lockers in each park to keep extra stuff so we stay as comfortable as possible. The bright side to this is that most everything is indoors anyway, and the rain keeps the crowds away. We've been to all these places many times over the years, and sun and dry is preferable, but we made out OK in the rain. Enjoy!

My daughters, grandchildren and myself went to Disney World last April. It rained so hard the first day we were there. Nothing shut down and it was a sea of yellow (everyone in Mickey ponchos.) It was quite cold and damp. I did not see too many smiling faces. It was not fun at all. Disney World makes out on rainy days, what with selling ponchos, hats, sweatshirts, etc. for the rain, damp and cold. I would suggest to take some rain gear along so you do not have to buy them. It becomes quite expensive because the ponchos rip very easily. We still had to stand in line at the Magic Kingdom in the rain. I would suggest Epcot if it rains for alot of activity is indoors. Have a good trip.

It poured all day on one of my best days in the Magic Kingdom. I think that it's all in what you make it & the best part is there are pratically no lines. Go prepared with rain gear. We all bought the clear rain ponchos & paid an heafty fee inside the park, but most everyone who remained was a good sport, we really had a fun day. They did not shut anything down & even put on the laser show at Epcot that night.

We went in late april last year and had a few rainy days. It was really busy and it didnt seem to deture the crowds like the books say. I dont mind the rain, but I dont like my feet wet for the whole day. That is the worst part. I agree about going to Epcot if it is raining. We were at MGM when it POOOUUURRREEEDD. Rivers on the streets. We had ponchos but our feet where sloshing with wetness. Good luck.

You get wet. That's what happens when it rains. Florida does tend to get a lot of rain, and when it rains, it frequently pours. Florida is also the lightening capitol of the country, so you get frequent electric storms as well. But people in Florida go about their business, same as everywhere else when it rains. Disney world is no exception
