What can we do for an afternoon in Ft. Lauderdale?

Our June cruise ship arrives back in Miami on a Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Our flight back home is out of Ft. Lauderdale at 6:00 p.m. After we leave the ship, my brother will drive us to the Lauderdale Airport. I'm guessing (depending on how long it takes to be released from the ship) we will have 4-6 hours before our 6:00 p.m. flight. Any suggestions on what we could do with that time?

Go towards the beach. There are alot of restaurants there. If you have luggage go to a hotel and ask if you can leave it for a few hours they've always done it for me.

The airport is not far from the beaches. Head directly for the beach area A1A. Store the luggage as suggested. Take a water taxi, get off at Riverwalk, and have a drink. There is also a 2 hour jungles tour at certain times. You might catch that it is quite informative, takes you all around the canals with a history of the homes you will be seeing.

Thanks, everyone ! I didn't know that a hotel would hold our luggage. That is great to know.

There is a nice Science museum in the riverwalk area that has IMAX shows. You can also hang out on Las Olas, lots of shopping restaurants, art, etc.
