Charleston, SC - Hayne House, Elliott House or French Quarter Inn

My husband and I are in the midst of planning a long weekend in Charleston - neither of us have ever been there. Looking for info/comparison of the 3 B&Bs listed above. Room available at each for the time we're going (March 23 - 27). Any and all info greatly appreciated!!

Check www.tripadvisor for reviews. I, too, am thinking of staying at French Quarter Inn. It gets very good reviews. I'll be anxious to hear what others say too.

I'd also be interested in hearing about the Wentworth Mansion from anyone who's stayed there.

I don't know about the first two options, but we stayed at FQI last summer and it was really lovely and romantic. Had the nice little amenities of a B&B (cookies, wine and cheese, lemonade, jellybeans) but the privacy of a larger hotel. The breakfast was a little meager, but we're not big breakfast people, anyway, and it was just nice to have coffee and juice in bed ...

Above all, it was just a very nice ambiance ... upscale but completely unpretentious.

Oh, and eat dinner at the Penninsula Grill. Wow.

Do you recall what restaurants are really close to the FQI-perhaps one to two blocks? Thanks you.

A.W.Shucks
Bubba Gump
Penninsula Grill(Planters Inn)
T-Bonz
Kaminskys
Garibaldis
Hymans
O'Henrys
Tommy Condons
Poogan's Porch
Sweetwater Cafe
Charleston Grill(Charleston Place)
The Cafe
Grill 225 (Market Pavillion)
Magnolias (little further than 2 blocks)
Carolina's (ditto above)

and a kazillion more restaurants. What kind of food, what is your price, and everything is within a couple block radius of your hotel.

To help me decide--is the Harborview as convenient to the great restaurants-like Jestines or Magnolias? What's really close? I'm asking this cuz my mother is with and every block makes a difference. Thanks.

Keep in mind that everything is in a relatively compact area.

For the least amount of walking, you will want to stay at the French Quarter Inn. The Harborview is a little further out.
