What to do in Ft. Lauderdale before early evening flight?

We're taking a cruise this spring, and will have a lot of time on our hands between the time we get off the ship and the time our flight leaves. Anyone have ideas on how what we can do? Don't want to lug around our bags all day.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

Liz, firstly get rid of the bags. Then you can go to the strip on the beach. Not far from the airport. There is a jungle cruise which lasts about 3 hours. It will take you on the millionaire row and give a history of the homes, there owners etc. I enjoyed this quite a bit. You can also purchase a water taxi pass for the day. You can go to Riverwalk, shopping. Along A1A there are many outside cafe's. Stop for lunch, or have a drink. it is a nice area for walking or just strolling around. You will want to get rid of your "sea legs." Enjoy.

Pam: Great suggestions! But the problem is where to put our luggage?? I checked with our cruiseline, and they have tours in Ft. Lauderdale after we disembark-- they'd store our bags in the bus. Maybe that would be easier?

Liz, won't the cruiseline transfer your luggage to the airlines, (airport) you are flying home from??? Wouldn't that work? If not check the FLL tours and see what they have to offer. If it sounds like anything good then that would solve all of your problems with the bags as well.

Last time we cruised out of Ft. Lauderdale we had several hours to kill before our flight. We rented a car, left the bags in the trunk and spent some time at Riverwalk. It worked out great. There are shuttles to the car rental at the port.

Thanks for the suggestions! Looks like we're going to take a tour from the cruiseline in FLL.

I appreciate the response
