Weather in san Francisco

Can anyone give me a hint as to what the weather may be like the last two weeks in November/first 2 weeks in december? There are some great flight and hotels deals for that period but my daughter suggested there were lowering prices then because the weather was notoriously bad at that time of the year. Is this true ? how can I check it out , Finally what would you think about travel to SF at that time Thanks folks !!

Weather varies so much from year to year. You can check the averages on weather.com. My experience living an hour south of San Francisco, is you may experience a combination of sun, fog and showers (possibly rain). And highs in the 50's or 60's. Vague, but we can't predict weather! ;-)

I love San Francisco and would go any time of year. That said, the weather in that city is the least predictable of anywhere I have ever been. It changes minute to minute from one block to the next.

Just dress for being outdoors in changing weather. I don't think Nov/Dec is any more "notoriously bad" then many other months (i.e., Jan, Feb, March).

It will be drizzly, sunny, breezy, mild, wet, etc, etc.

It could be any of the above or a combination. Most likely it will not be heavy coat cold (but that is not a guarantee either). You will want a jacket though as highs will be probably be in the mid to upper 50's (as trippinkpj said).

SF is bustling in early December especially in the shopping districts. I think it is a great time to go into the city (I live 40 minutes away).

Well, last night it was pouring rain after a day of steady drizzle. Today it is bright sunshine and blue skies. More rain forecast for Thursday. It's like this in late fall/early winter - rain followed by superbly clear weather - rinse and repeat.

Bring a raincoat and shoes that will hold up in the wet. Make sure that coat has room for a sweater underneath.

"Notoriously" bad weather in S. F. Not compared to, say, Toronto!

Yesterday we had a depressingly gray rainy Monday. Today the sun is out, still cool - a sweater is needed. Wednesday-Thursday forecast 30% chance of rain.

Sure you can't know in advance, but what if it rains a day or 2? Museums, restaurants, movies, there are so many options in the city! So you'll take a bus instead of walking, that's all.

Roberty, I would say travel to SF at this time is just as good as it any other time. If you enjoy Christmas shopping, the Christmas decorations in the downtown stores will be fun to see.

Our weather is very unpredictable and is likely to be almost as good now as during the middle of the summer.

I hope you decide to come!

It is a good time, with holiday shopping and the pretty lights. You'll have fun with or without rain.

Just want to say THANKS to all you good folks who offered your advice re:weather in San Francisco. A couple of years ago we hit SF and Yosemite and Big Sur for 3 weeks never saw a cloud. So hated the thought of returning under anything less than perfect weather. HOwever the point is well made and taken forget the weather and go to SF regardless !!! So we are gearing up to do so Thanks again folks !!!!!

I will be SFO this weekend. Hope fully the weather will be good. What is there to see in SFO apart from GoldenGate and Fishermans warf. I will be landing in SFO on the 18th and driving to Monterary bay around evening for an overnite stay there and in the morning tour the 17 mile in Monteray. My flight to Vegas is on 19th at 1pm.
