December in San Francisco

I am planning to travel to San Francisco during the first week of december...is it true that december is the coldest month in San Francisco? What about the rain? I will really appreciate if someone who lives in SF can tell me if it is a good idea to travel in december

Thanks!

OK. This is a question with an answer most certainly found online hours ago. When you want to check the weather in your hometown, do you turn on the telly? Or, do you check online? Hmmmm.

DEC and JAN are the coldest months, but that means little. You are not asking cyber-strangers to predict the weather for your travels, are you?

Off you go to San Francisco. Enjoy your trip.

Yes, December is the one of the coldest month which means low to mid 50s in the day and down to mid 40s (?) at night. Yes, it is also the "rainy" season. However, rain is often unpredictable. Some winters it rains much of the winter and some years not at all. I would go as planned and bring an umbrella. Happy travels!

December isn't an ideal month to travel to SF, but if that was the time I had, I would take it. As others have said, it could be rainy or not. It will likely be chilly, but it hardly ever gets downright cold. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities, so you can decide what to do based on the weather that day.

Be prepared: you may get very cold, or very wet, or be surprised to get some of those beautiful, crystal-clear days we often get at that time of year (I remember one year in particular when that first week of December was breathtakingly sunny and sparkling, therefore warm but not too hot). There is no way of predicting, but I wouldn't let the weather prevent me from visiting San Francisco at any time. Enjoy.
