VERY QUICK Los Angeles question...

If I have a really quick meeting in Downtown LA, on Tuesday Dec 7 WHAT airport should I fly in to. LGB is not an option.
It's between LAX and BUR.
I am NOT afraid of LA traffic and get around really well there. I just need to know if it is better coming in from the North, or the South during rush hour.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know enough about LA traffic to answer your question, but the people with this knowledge will need to know if you're arriving during the morning or afternoon rush hours.

TTP....Assuming you are flying out of DFW...Is BUR even an option?? The first flight arrives into BUR at 11.53am and the last flight out of BUR to DFW is 2.31pm.Is that enough time for your meeting?

In the morning, it's a tossup, honestly. With no traffic, it's about 20-25 minutes from either airport, and during Rush Hour traffic into Downtown LA is pretty gnarly on the Harbor Freeway (from BUR you'll hop it southbound from the I-5; from LAX you'll hop it northbound from the I-605). Give yourself an hour either way, and know it will really only take 40-45 minutes, assuming no accidents. Pick for price and schedule.

LGB is not a good option for this trip, since the best route will be the I-710 to the I-5 to the US-101-- all heavily-traveled in the morning, especially with trucks from the Port of Long Beach. AND it's farther to boot.

Thanks RJW! Glad you chimed in.
I am not sure when I'll be arriving but Is BUR easier to get in/out of?
I will be in the middle of a trip to Las Vegas and I will be in a big freakin hurry to get the heck out of LA ad back to the Venetian!

BUR beats LAX hands down for getting in/out. It's a much smaller airport. LAX might win out only if you plan to use cabs to get to/from downtown - in a cab you can use the carpool lanes.

Tx: Mel's right on the in & out issue. BUR, no question, unless you're able to use the carpool lanes on the 105 and Harbor Freeways. Too bad the people you're meeting with couldn't fly out to LAS, huh?

Hey, maybe I could pick up a prostitute or bum so I could use the HOV lane... like Larry David.

From Burbank airport walk 1/2 block to the commuter train which goes to Union Station (Metrolink). For times just enter Burbank airport and Union Station into the trip planner section of mta.net

You could also cab to Universal and take the subway downtown. Either way, much easier than LAX.

I totally agree. Fly into and out of Burbank. It will be a lot easier.

Burbank, absolutely. It is easy to get in and out of. The 5 freeway will be a bit quicker in the am.

Uhhhhh..just exactly WHERE are you talking about in terms of "downtown" Los Angeles? Knowing that might change things a bit.

Downtown, downtown...
Traffic never seems to be bad down there unless something is going on at the Staples Center.
Burbank it is!
