Vail Restaurants/Activities
I will be going to Vail for knee surgery in August.
I know it's a place for hiking, et al but I won't be able to get around so easily.
Anybody know any interesting restaurants around there.
Any blues clubs there?

On the cheaper end for restaurants, try The Saloon and Minturn Country Club (both in Minturn just outside of vail). In Vail, try the Bully Ranch and Pazzo's Pizza. Gore Range Brewery and the Gas House in Edwards are also good calls. In Beaver Creek, the Dusty Boot Saloon is a good call. On the higher end, try Pepi's or the Left Bank in Vail, and Grouse Mountain Grill in Beaver Creek. Check to make sure all are open in the Summer before venturing there. (For example, I believe Sweet Basil is closed this summer, which is frequently recommended.

We spent the week of July 4th in Vail. Sweet Basil is open. We didn't eat there this trip, but the last time we were in Vail, Sweet Basil was great.
This trip, we had excellent meals at Pepi's and Lancelot's. Bully Ranch is also good.
We did a lot of day trips, so we didn't eat in Vail every day. However, we were staying at the Sonnenalp and breakfast at Ludwig's is included. This is probably the best breakfast I've had in my life. I can highly recommend.
Good luck!

Minturn Country Club is in, of course, Minturn, a "no stoplight" town between Vail and Beaver Creek. The Country Club is grill your own steak (they have some seafood and chicken items as well) and salad bar place. Forget the "Country Club" name, it's very, very casual. There's also a good mexican restaurant in Minturn.

There is a cool local cafe in Avon called the Avon bakery, it has great bagels, pastries and breads. The music scene will vary so check the local free paper (Vail Daily) available on most street corners or bus stops and check the entertainment section for clubs and special concerts at the Vilar Center in Beaver Creek or the Ford Amphatheater (sp.) in Vail. Finally, check out the State Bridge Lodge or Wolcott Yacht Club for fun shows a little off the beaten path.
