Hi everyone,

Considering renting a cottage or two along the Oregon coast--would probably be in the shoulder or off-season next year. Want to be on the ocean or very close to it, at least within view and short walking distance (and hearing distance). I prefer the following areas: Tillamook, Depoe Bay, Waldport, Yachats and Bandon. Need something smaller-no need for more than two bedrooms.

Any help on how to find something would be most appreciated.

There are several Oregon State Parks that now offer cabins to rent. Cape Lookout, near Tillamook is one of them. They may not be exactly what you're looking for, but I think they meet all your criteria (at least those at Cape Lookout). For more info, see http://www.oregonstateparks.org/cabins.php

There are both cabins and yurts through the parks. The yurts have been quite popular for several years. When we lived in WA a lot of people would come to the coast to experience them.

No, these are regular log cabins. A yurt is a sort of tent-like structure. Cape Lookout has them too.

Just did a little research and they also have covered wagons and teepees. The log cabins are two rooms with microwave and fridge. Lots of options of lodging! ***kim***

Thanks for the fast replys. I saw the cabins and yurts at Cape Lookout S.P. when we camped there last week. Although they look nice, I was hoping for something a bit more "separate", not in a state park or campground setting. But I really do appreciate any and all responses.

Our family of four stayed at a great apartment overlooking Depoe Bay last August. It was across the street from the ocean where we saw whales feeding on the short stroll into town. There is a great beach just north of there. A wonderful restaurant 'Tidal raves' is directly across the street. We liked it so much that we ate there twice in four days.
