United Airlines

Would anyone gamble buying a United ticket for Christmas travel? Offering a ticket a $150 discount vs. other airlines but afraid of the bankruptcy.

If you do a search, you'll see people have been asking this same question since right after September 11th.

All the airlines, Delta, AA, USAirways, United, etc except Southwest, Jetblue and a few others are having financial difficulties and all have bankruptcy lawyers on staff.

If you feel uncomfortable, don't book.

I wouldn't hesitate to book with UAL.

We are probably gambling more with US Air with our upcoming trip, but expect to take out a Trip/Travel insurance plan with Airline bankruptcy coverage policy(for examples see www.insuremytrip.com

dcespedes: Careful, you're dating yourself (and a lot of us). What percentage of the board posters do you think can identify that lyric and who sang it?

Frank Sinatra! I'm not old either. Well...at least I'm younger than my husband.

Isn't that the theme to UAL's new marketing campaign?

Sammy Cahn & Jimmy Van Heusen.

United's new marketing theme is "Brother, Cab You Spare a Dime?"

I understand your concerns. The thing is, none of the majors are doing all that well. Delta and Northwest are flirting with bankruptcy themselves, and USAir is still in Ch. 11 (their second).
